What I'm about to share with you may seem surreal. Trust me - it took a few days for it to sink in with me as well.
It all started when I got an email from my husband titled "You won't believe this!". Let me preface this by letting you know a little something about Nigel. He is ADDICTED to Craigslist. Each day I get told about the next greatest deal on Craig's ol' list. These items range from trucks to oil cans. I never know what he's going to show me next. I open the email expecting to see a link for me to click on, but he (thankfully) proved me wrong. I quickly read through the email, but end up having to reread it a second time. In a nutshell, Nigel's email said a house that I've always admired from the outside was going to be bulldozed but we may have a chance to save it...if we move it from it's current location.
IS HE FOR REAL?!
Tons of questions raced through my head.
1. Can you just move a house?
2. Does this mean I may finally get to see the inside of the house I've been crushing on for years?
3. Why on earth would this amazing house have an appointment with the bulldozer?
Over the next few days my questions were answered.
1. It turns out that yes - you can move a house! There is actually an International Association of Structural Movers. They have a website that was a lifesaver for us in starting this process.
2. Yes - I did in fact get to see the inside of this home and let me just say the inside is just as impressive as the outside.
3. The current owners of the home are building a beautiful new home on the same property and they were ready to close the chapter on their old house.
That's where we are now. Working our way through the process of moving a home - our forever home. Some people think we're crazy, but the end result has us SUPER excited!
Follow along through our trials and tribulations.
Here is a sneak peak of the lovely house.
